✨ Roots in Tradition

KUKER was born from the deep forests, wild meadows, and ancient traditions of Bulgaria — and from one woman’s belief that health, spirit, and culture should be shared with the world.

When I was a little girl, my grandparents kept rows of 🐝 beehives. I learned how to care for the bees — patient, enduring creatures that carried the lifeblood of our land on their wings. Their pollination gave us abundance: a country with the richest diversity of herbs in Europe, and the resilience to keep it alive for generations.

My grandmother was my greatest teacher. Every summer, we would climb the mountains together to collect herbs — chamomile, mint, lavender, St. John’s wort. 🌱 Back at her little house, we dried them in the shade, waiting for the moment when, in the depths of winter, we would brew healing teas that carried the memory of the sun.

🌿 Ancient Herbal Wisdom

These traditions reach far beyond my childhood. In fact, they go back thousands of years — to the Thracians, the ancient people who once lived on this land.

🕊 Plato mentions them in his dialogue Harmides (380 BC), and Theophrastus wrote of their use of centaury, wormwood, hellebore, valerian, and wild thyme. The Thracian healing system was rooted in herbs, ritual, and reverence for the forces of nature.

The Thracians worshipped life’s eternal cycles — birth, death, rebirth — and their rituals evolved into what we now know as Kukeri.

🔥 The Power of the Kukeri

Masked figures dressed in furs, bells, and carved wooden faces, the Kukeri perform ritual dances to drive away darkness and invite fertility, renewal, and protection. It is one of the oldest Bulgarian traditions, passed down from the Thracians to this day.

I chose the name KUKER® because it is more than a brand — it is a story of roots. 🌱 It is a reflection of ancient Thracian wisdom, of rituals for fertility and protection, and of my deep Balkan heritage.
